How to jailbreak iPhone 3GS (Vista)

This guide will walk you through how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS using purplera1nWindows Vista. by geohot running

Note: Make sure your iPhone is running firmware 3.0 and you have the latest iTunes version 8.2.0.23 installed

1. Download purplea1n

1. Ensure iTunes is closed

2: Turn off your device

3: Hold down the Home button and plug your iPhone 3GS into your computer.

4: Continue to hold down the Home button until you see the image below on your iPhone 3GS

5: Let go of the Home button

6. Run purplera1n.exe as Administrator

- Right click on purplera1n.exe and click on ‘Run as administrator’

7. Click on ‘make it ra1n’

8. It will now send its exploit and upload the payload.

9. It will now reboot your device

Note: At this point you will have the image below on your iPhone 3GS. Just wait for the iPhone 3GS to reboot. It takes around 45 seconds or so. Just wait and be patient. If it has been longer than 3 minutes, force reboot. To do this hold down the Home button and the power button until it reboots. Then start the process all over again.

10. Once it reboots, you will now have a new ‘Freeze’ icon

11. Open up Freeze and tap ‘Install Cydia’

12. Now reboot your device.

That’s it! Once your iPhone reboots you will have Cydia.
